Welcome to the 'freed om yoga' booking page. Here you can book your place in a group class, a yoga philosophy class, or arrange a private yoga session.

Freed om yoga classes are taught by Lynda Miers-Henneveld. I aim to create an atmosphere in which my students feel safe and relaxed to explore at their own pace, in order to form an understanding of the purpose of yoga in the context of their daily lives. Classes are open to all, from beginners to seasoned yogis. I can help you to get the best out of the sessions by offering you alternative postures or adaptations to suit your level of confidence and ability.

Group classes are 90 minutes long, and on some occasions, additional 30 minutes extension classes are offered for those who wish to explore pranayama (conscious breathing) or mantra (chanting) and meditation in more detail. For class times, prices and locations, please visit freed-om-yoga.com

Please note: The current timetable of classes is valid until March 31, 2012.
From the beginning of April until early June, I will be traveling overseas. All group classes, yoga philosophy classes and private yoga sessions will be on hold during this time. The normal timetable will resume on June 12, 2012. You are welcome to book ahead for June 12 and beyond.

Group classes Each 90 minute group class follows a particular theme, often based on the chakras, the elements, or an aspect of yoga philosophy, which gives us a framework for exploring a variety of postures, pranayama (conscious breathing) and meditation techniques.
Pranayama Each 30 minute pranayama session is offered as a continuation of the regular class that precedes it. In these sessions we will explore conscious breathing in supine, seated and/or dynamic postures.
Mantra & meditation Each 30 minute mantra & meditation session is offered as a continuation of the regular class that precedes it. In these sessions we will use our voice to awaken the energy body, through Vedic chanting (mantra). This is a lovely practice for stimulating self awareness and self confidence, and for opening the heart and throat chakras. We will conclude the sessions with a guided meditation, during which we will experience the effect of the chanting.
Yoga philosophy In these two-hour classes, we will study the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali in order to deepen our understanding of the purpose of yoga. We start each practice by chanting the sutras in a call and response style, after which we translate and discuss their meaning.
Individual tuition For those who regularly attend group classes, a 60 minute private session can be very useful for addressing any questions you haven’t had an opportunity to ask, or to help you adapt or replace postures so that you can gain more from the regular classes.

If you would like to get your home practice off the ground, I can design a personal sequence for you, and help you find the best way to make it part of your life. This process would involve at least two 60 minute private sessions. The first session consists of a consultation/exploration, after which I will write your sequence. In the second session I will teach you the sequence and make sure that you are confident to work with it on your own. As you progress with your practice, we can review and update it as needed.

Private tuition and yoga philosophy classes are offered at my home studio in Island Bay. You will be given directions once you have confirmed your booking.
Cancellation policy Please note that a 12-hour cancellation policy applies to group classes, and a 24-hour policy applies to private sessions. You will be charged for bookings that are cancelled within this time. I encourage you to text me on 021-386 914 to let me know the reason for your cancellation. In some instances, the cancellation fee may be waived.
