You and Your Jewellery will be treated with care and confidentiality.
Please note that Watches and certain jewellery items such as Jade and Opal require additional research and may not be able to be done on a While-u-Wait or Same-Day basis.

In the Auckland area we can also visit you at your home or office and value your jewellery in front of you.
For clients outside of Auckland we also operate a nationwide insured courier service, or you can contact us for the GemLab retail jeweller agent in your area.

Fees
|
Our fees are per item based on the nature and complexity of the item(s), the type of valuation report that is required, and how quickly.
A Gem ID is $20 to $30 depending on complexity and can normally be done While-U-Wait at no extra charge
Full Valuation Reports are $50 for plain gold items, $25 for brief report
$95 for gemstone jewellery, and from $115 for complex or high value items and for watches.
For Same-day service add $10, While-U-Wait add $20 per item.
We will decline to do a valuation report where the benefit to you is not worth the valuation fee, but an ID fee will apply.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A charge of $25 will apply for a cancellation of less than 1 hours notice or for a "no show".
In-Home Valuations are $150 call-out plus the same-day item fees.

Paul Nilsson
|
A Gemological Institute of America (GIA) trained Gemologist and Diamond Grader, Paul has been valuing New Zealanders jewellery for nearly 30 years. He established GemLab in 1987. Paul is currently retraining to earn the title of FGA with Gem-A, the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Pauls forte is large diamonds and he encourages anyone contemplating purchasing one to get an independent assessment from him first. He also has an in depth knowledge of the Insurance Industry and is able to advise on insurance claim matters.

Chrissy Terblanche
|
Also a GIA trained Gemologist and Diamond Grader, Chrissy has been with GemLab for 12 years, interrupted by her London OE (where she found a husband) and the birth of her first child. Chrissy's specialty is the quality grading of loose diamonds but she has experience across a wide range of jewellery types as well.

Jennifer Harris
|
Jennifer is an FGA and DGA which means that she has the prestigious Gemmological and Diamond Diplomas from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Jen has been with GemLab for nearly 20 years, and is therefore experienced in valuing all types of jewellery, with the accurate assessment of loose high quality diamonds her specialty. At the same time she is home executive to a three children household.

Kelly Devlin
|
Another of our GIA trained Diamond Graders and Gemologists, Kelly has been with GemLab for 8 years, starting with us just after we moved from Vulcan Lane to Takapuna. Kelly is right up to date with the latest gem identification techniques and their values.

Janelle Sequeira
|
Janelle is a qualified Diamond Grader (GIA) and is currently studying for her Gem-A Gemmology Diploma. She has completed her GemLab Jewellery Valuer training. She is an associate member of the Jewellery Valuers Society of New Zealand.

Justyna Schroeder
|
Justyna is an insurance claim specialist jewellery valuer. Experienced with a wide range of jewellery in her previous roles in sales, management, and valuing with Walker and Hall in NZ, and Watches of Switzerland and Theo Fennell in London, Justyna has been with GemLab for the past two years.
