 During my 18 year
career as a professional cricketer I have always had an appetite for health and
fitness and a belief that if you look after your body then your body will look
after you.
My interest in massage
started when I was being treated for my own aches and pains from cricket by
massage therapists' and physiotherapists'.
This interest grew as I discovered how
well my body responded to massage and recognized the advantages that massage
was playing towards my own performance and recovery.
When I retired from
cricket two years I went and studied at The New Zealand School of Massage
(NZCM) and became qualified in Therapeutic Massage with an emphasis in Sports
Massage.
Whether, it is
relieving chronic muscle tension, easing general
restrictions or just soothing your aches and pains to help recharge your body, I
look forward to working with you to meet your goals and being part of the
process towards good health, well-being and fitness at Mint Health.

Dip. Therapeutic Massage (NZCM) Cert. Dry Needling, Sports Massage, Trigger Point
Therapy, Relaxation Massage, Joint
Mobilisation I have been a full-time masseuse since 2007, and believe massage can be
highly effective in treating a wide range of problems. My practice is
mainly focused towards trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage,
myotherapy, dry needling, sports and remedial massage
techniques, and also deep tissue pregnancy massage. Whilst completing my
massage diploma, I also studied some Ortho-Bionomy (the use of gentle
movements and body positioning to
facilitate a change in stress and pain patterns). I enjoy giving deep tissue,
therapeutic and sports massage - with a strong emphasis on the treatment,
relaxation and recovery benefits that this can bring. I thrive on professional
development and regularly partake in courses to keep my skill-base at a top
level - and to round it all off, I practice what I preach and also receive regular weekly massages to keep my own body in check. Many prominent sports teams have put the recovery of their athletes in
my hands, including Wellington based members of the NZ Blackcaps, Wellington
Firebirds, Wellington Phoenix, Melbourne Heart FC, Queensland Roar FC, Wellington Colts under 21 Rugby
prems and the USA 7s team. I am also the official fight massage therapist for the Muay Thai Institute - MTI GYM
(kickboxing) and have provided rehabilitation massage to many champion fighters and trainers, during their fight training and
post-event to aid injury reduction.

 I have
been an active person all my life, enjoying a variety of sports including
Tennis, Badminton, Softball, Swimming and Yoga.
My interest in Massage started out as a hobby, but as my interest grew
on how amazing the human body is and how well the body responds to massage, I
kept continuing with my massage studies at The New South Wales School of
Massage, becoming qualified in Relaxation, Remedial, Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
and Trigger Point Therapy in 2006.
I have
also recently completed courses on Therapeutic Stretching and Sports Event
Management at the Wellington School of Massage.
The
body always wants to achieve homeostasis (balance), so whether your body is sedentary,
moderately active, preparing or recovering for an event, injured or stressed/anxious,
massage can help towards homeostasis.
This is done by increasing blood/lymph flow, flushing out toxins, easing
scar tissue and adhesions and releasing trigger points within muscle or contracted
muscles in order to increase your range of motion previously inhibited by stiff
tight muscles.
We
can't help the ageing process, but I have a goal for clients of looking towards
the next 30+ years and understand that a healthy body needs help in maintaining
homeostasis so life can be enjoyed. Massage and stretching is an integral part of this
maintenance.
"There is a better kind of normal" and Mint Health can help you achieve this.

I have been a runner and a
gym-goer for the past 17 years, with a passion for health and fitness,
and a belief that wellbeing concerns both body and mind. Through my
sport I've realised the benefits of massage for my performance and
recovery, as well as keeping me injury free!
I don't believe that massage is a luxury, I see it as
an important aspect of being proactive about your overall health.
A
combination of massage, exercise, and good nutrition is the key to
achieving and maintaining a healthy body, that is less prone to injury
and chronic pain. No matter what your activity level or health goals,
everyone can benefit from massage.
I know that healthy muscles
function better, so my aim is to show you how regular and tailored
massage can improve your day-to-day living and keep you in MINT
condition.
