Welcome to the 'freed-om-yoga' booking page.
Here you can book your place in a group class or course, arrange a private yoga or mentoring session, or schedule a yoga therapy consultation.

Most of the classes taught by me, Lynda Miers-Henneveld. I have been teaching yoga in Wellington since 1995. These days I teach from my home studio in Island Bay. The freed-om-yoga studio is a warm and inviting space. It is fully equipped with mats, bolsters and blankets, everything you need to support you in your practice.

I aim to create an atmosphere in which my students feel safe and relaxed to explore at their own pace, in order to form an understanding of the purpose of yoga in the context of their daily lives. Classes are open to all, from beginners to seasoned yogis. I can help you to get the best out of your practice by offering you alternative postures or adaptations to suit your level of confidence and ability.

From time to time I invite other teachers to offer courses at freed-om-yoga. These teachers are hand-picked by me for their ability to bring their own inspiration to the classes, whilst maintaining the integrity of the yoga practice, and supporting the individuality of the students.

Group classes vary in length, from 60 to 90 minutes, and generally include asana (postures), pranayama (conscious breathing), mantra (chanting) and meditation. Classes can be booked individually. From time to time courses will be offered. To participate in these, a commitment to the entire course is required.

All classes are held at the freed-om-yoga studio, 180 Melbourne Road, Island Bay, Wellington. Online bookings are required for all classes, course and private sessions.

Group classes Each group class follows a particular theme, based an aspect of yoga philosophy, which gives us a framework for exploring a variety of postures, pranayama (conscious breathing) and meditation techniques.

Students of all levels are welcome to join any available class. Even if you are a total beginner, you will be well catered for.
Yoga courses Courses run in 6 to 8 week cycles, and follow a particular theme. When booking for courses please keep in mind that you are committing to the entire course. No refunds will be given for missed sessions.
Restorative yoga Sometimes described as dynamic rest, restorative yoga is a nurturing and healing practice, which involves placing the body in various supported postures. Each posture has a specific effect on the physical body and the nervous system. Postures are typically held for up to 15 or 20 minutes each, allowing the practitioner to experience deep rest. No prior experience of yoga is needed to attend these sessions.
Yoga therapy I offer yoga therapy to those who wish to empower themselves through yoga. The tools of classical yoga (breath awareness, simple postures, visualisation, chanting and meditation) are valuable allies in the healing process. Yoga therapy reconnects you to your innate ability to heal yourself, whether you are suffering from physical, mental or emotional pain.

An initial consultation of 90 - 120 minutes is required to establish your home practice. Follow ups are available in the form of 60 and 90 minutes sessions, to fine tune or update your practice. The length and number of sessions required will vary from person to person.
Private yoga and restorative sessions If you would like to enjoy a one-to-one yoga session, begin a home practice, or take time to deepen your understanding of something we have explored in a group class, a private session can be very helpful.

Individual sessions are also available for restorative yoga, for those times when you need to just need some space and deep relaxation.

Choose your session length, and in your booking notes, let me know what you would like to explore.
Small group private classes If you and your family or friends would like a group class tailored to your specific needs, you can book a session for up to 5 people. These sessions can range from restorative to energising, and can be between 60 - 90 minutes long. One sequence will be offered to the whole group, with individual adaptations and adjustments offered as required, to ensure that each person enjoys the experience
Mentoring I offer mentoring to teachers and teacher trainees in any style or lineage. Although my current personal offerings are primarily in restorative and classical yoga fields, I have a wide and varied training history, which puts me in a unique position of being able to support teachers and trainees from all walks of life.

Whether you are new to teaching, or need to be re-inspired, I can offer you my care, attention and support, and help you find or redefine your personal offering.

Mentoring sessions can be held in person or online.
Cancellation policy Please note that a 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all group classes, courses, mentoring and private sessions. You will be charged for bookings that are cancelled within this time. I encourage you to text me on 021-386 914 to let me know the reason for your cancellation. In some instances, the cancellation fee may be waived.
