What Gem and Jewellery Items does GemLab Value? We value all types of Jewellery, Diamonds, Gemstones, Pearls, whether it be modern or antique, local or overseas, production or one-of-a-kind.
You and Your Jewellery will be treated with care and confidentiality.
Please note that Watches and certain jewellery items such as Opal require additional research and may not be able to be done on a While-u-Wait or Same-Day basis.

Where is GemLab? 42 Constellation Drive, Mairangi Bay

Take the Mairangi Bay/Upper Harbour Highway offramp, go past Home-Zone on left, GemLab is on left before Wendy's.
Or, if you are coming from the Bays end of Constellation we are on the right after Wendy's and just past Corey's.

In the Auckland area we can also visit you at your home or office and advise on what might be required for your valuation needs and to quote. We will deliver your jewellery and valuations back to you within a couple of days.

For clients outside of Auckland we also operate a nationwide insured courier service, or you can contact us for the GemLab retail jeweller agent in your area.
Bookings There is no need to book for our standard 3 day service, just call into GemLab at Constellation at your convenience.
For same-day or while-u-wait service you can make a booking online here. Just select the appropriate service option at the right hand side.
Once you have placed a booking you can log in and click on My Ezybook to change the booking or to make further bookings.

Fees Our fees are per item based on the nature and complexity of the item(s), the type of valuation report that is required, and how quickly.
A Gem ID is $25 to $35 depending on complexity and can normally be done While-U-Wait at no extra charge
Full Valuation Reports are $55 for plain gold items, $110 for gemstone jewellery, and from $130 for complex or high value items and for watches. Brief reports for gem-set items are $60 and for plain gold items $30.
For Same-day service add $10, While-U-Wait add $20 per item.
We will decline to do a valuation report where the benefit to you is not worth the valuation fee, but an ID fee will apply.
A charge of $25 will apply for a cancellation of less than 1 hours notice or for a "no show".
In-Home Consultation, collection & delivery $120 plus the per item rates. Greater Auckland area only.

Paul Nilsson Holding Diplomas from both the Gemological Institute of America (G.GIA) and the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA distinction) as a trained Gemologist and Diamond Grader, Paul has been valuing New Zealanders jewellery for 35 years. He established GemLab in 1987. Pauls forte is large diamonds and high quality coloured stones and he encourages anyone contemplating purchasing one to get an independent assessment from him first. He also has an in depth knowledge of the Insurance Industry and is able to advise on insurance claim matters.
Chrissy Terblanche Also a GIA trained Gemologist and Diamond Grader, Chrissy has been with GemLab for 20 years, interrupted by her London OE and the births of her two children. Chrissy's specialty is the quality grading of loose diamonds and insurance claim assessments on damaged jewellery, but she has experience across a wide range of jewellery types as well.
Jennifer Harris Jennifer is an FGA and DGA which means that she has the prestigious Gemmological and Diamond Diplomas from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Jen has been with GemLab for more than 20 years, and is therefore experienced in valuing all types of jewellery. At the same time she is home executive to a three children household.
Kelly Wong Another of our GIA trained Diamond Graders and Gemologists, Kelly has been with GemLab for 15 years, starting with us just before we moved from Vulcan Lane to the North Shore. Kelly is right up to date with the latest gem identification techniques and gem values.
Janelle Sequeira Janelle is a qualified Diamond Grader (GIA) and Gemmologist (FGA) and is fully trained in jewellery valuation theory & methodology. She is a full member of the Jewellery Valuers Society of New Zealand.
Justyna Schroeder Justyna is an insurance claim specialist jewellery valuer. Experienced with a wide range of jewellery in her previous roles which include sales, management, and valuing with Walker and Hall in NZ, and sales with Watches of Switzerland and Theo Fennell in London. Justyna has been ith GemLab for the past nine years.
